“Owning, Honoring, Connecting our Darkness and Light ”
Angela Farmer

This interview is over.
Please get your Moon Pass
to access the recording & transcript.

In order to feel the wholeness, beauty and power of being a woman, it is necessary to befriend our dark places; focusing only on the light may create denial or suppression of what lies deep beneath the surface. Angela Farmer will share a very personal story, a life experience that lead her to the gradual uncovering of an internal and empowering practice that she now shares with women who have suffered abuse, trauma or injury. Through this process, the light listens to the dark and the dark hears that it has been listened to, and slowly, a healing begins. Without blame or denial the two extremes of light and dark within us all can nourish and inspire great poetry, brave action and a delight in life and all its blessings.

Session Host: Laura Cornell

Angela Farmer was born in London in 1938, and found yoga at 28. She became one of the first Iyengar teachers in London. A few months later, she met Mr. Iyengar and sold everything she owned to go study with him in India. She studied and taught under him for ten years and then was blessed with a revelation at a temple in Orissa that sent her in search of the Divine Feminine in yoga, and in herself, which has been her path ever since. She teaches both alone and with her partner and husband Victor van Kooten, and she leads retreats for women to help them discover their own yoga.

“Namaste Muthaf**kas:
Addiction, Trauma, Yoga and Grace”
Nikki Myers, MBA

The Sanskrit word “Namaste” is usually translated as “The divine light in me honors the same in you.” But what if Namaste is more than a greeting ~ what if it’s a way of life, a way of being? What if Namaste is a verb? And if it is a verb, how can it transform from a greeting to an actionable force in the face of death, divorce, domestic violence and addiction? How do you find God/good/divine light in those muthaf**kas? In this interview, Nikki will share how a 12-Step program, yoga, and an ardent search for self led to her own personal path to healing and reintegration.

Session Host: Jane Meinz

Nikki Myers, MBA, is a Yoga Therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and Certified Addictions Recovery Specialist. Born from her personal struggle with addiction, Nikki founded Y12SR, The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery. Based in the theme “issues live in the tissues,” Y12SR is a relapse-prevention program that weaves the art and science of yoga with the practical tools of 12-step programs. Y12SR meetings are now available all over the United States and the curriculum is rapidly becoming a feature of addiction recovery treatment centers. She is honored to be a co-founder of the annual “Yoga, Meditation and Recovery” Conferences at Esalen Institute and Kripalu Center.

According to many traditions, a woman’s power lies in the potency of her blood. Healthy blood supports not only her physical health, but her mental-emotional integration and her spiritual practice as well. In this talk, in honor of the darkness of the new moon, Buddhist scholar and yoga teacher Chandra Easton will share both traditional and modern relationships to blood: the practical and symbolic importance of blood in yoga and Tantra, as well as practices and protocols for modern women in the three phases of a woman’s life: menses, pregnancy, and menopause.

Session Host: Laura Cornell

Chandra Easton is a teacher and translator of Tibetan Buddhism, focusing on the lineage of the eleventh century yogini, Maching Labdrön, and Lama Tsultrim Allione, founder of Tara Mandala retreat center. She has taught Buddhism and Yoga for thirteen years and co-translated Sublime Dharma: A Compilation of Two Texts on the Great Perfection, published by Vimala Publishing in 2012. Chandra also teaches Shadow Yoga founded by Zhander Remete. She teaches courses on Buddhism and Shadow Yoga in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Many of us have experienced being lost at some point in our lives or are feeling lost right now. What can we trust when our eyes can no longer see clearly which way to go? How can we fall back to our instinct to move in darkness? How do we embrace the dark and use it to come closer to ourselves in times of difficulty? What is our relationship to our own inner light? In this talk, Jovinna Chan will lead us through an inquiry, and share her own personal story of what she has learned in the times of darkness that nurtured, shaped, and birthed her into light surprised and renewed.

Session Host: Laura Cornell

Jovinna Chan was born and raised in a village in Singapore. Inspired by the sacred temples and forests surrounding her home, she developed an awe and reverence for daily living that continue to infuse her life and work today. A well-respected teacher of yoga, conscious dance, and self-expression, Jovinna radiates a contagious quality of aliveness ~ in both movement and stillness ~ that students find liberating. Most of us are not aware of how our engrained, negative beliefs about money are affecting our success in our yoga teaching or other sacred business. Maybe you have totally bought into the popular belief that being financially successful doesn’t matter, or that it isn’t spiritual to plan for a healthy income. Join Laura to learn how these beliefs actually drain your energy, leaving you depleted both financially and physically, and without the resources you need for your business to thrive. By sharing her own personal journey, Laura will demonstrate how you can heal your relationship to money, and what it takes to fully prosper on all levels so you can serve in a big way.

Session Host: Jane Meinz

What people are saying about
the
Divine Feminine Yoga Telesummit

“Laura, thank you for the Divine Feminine Yoga Telesummit. I feel its healing energy helping me further my yoga practice as well as my issues around finances. In your story as well as all the speakers, I am getting strong messages guiding my next steps. I am most grateful for your holding the space for all of us who are trying to serve our higher purpose as well as the communities around us. Much love and many blessings to you and your work. What a strong force you are!”

~ Sabrina deBeatrice, Oxford, UK

“Goddess bless you for bringing tears to my eyes and solace to my aching feminine soul. Yoga has been my touchstone for 25 years now, but your telesummit showed me the piece that has been missing. Now I have validation and strength to really teach my truth. The words of so many wise women in such a condensed time has woken me up. I want to be heard, to be successful, to earn good money…. As the goddess is, so am I herself!”

~ Kate Bendell, New Zealand

“Thank you for coordinating the Divine Feminine Yoga Telesummit. The wisdom offered and shared through the telesummit is exceptional. And thank you for making available not only the audio but the transcripts as well. Saves time on taking notes and helps focus more on listening. Very nice!”

~ Sue Julian, Pinch, WV

“I am listening to all of the sessions. As I listen to them again and again, I discover new things from each recording. Thanks for putting this together!”

~ Jill, Adelaide, Australia

“I was thrilled with the Telesummit. I felt moved to see these approaches come together with deep honoring of the Divine Feminine. It gave me the clear understanding and sharing of the Goddess in what seems to be a masculine Yoga in spite of most classes being composed of women. Beautiful. Blessings!”

~ Darla Graves Palmer, Tucson, AZ

“This telesummit has come AT THE MOST PERFECT TIME imaginable. Along with difficult situations in my life, here comes grace and love and a hand to hold us and keep us steady. Thank you for the incredible thoughts and attitude adjustments.”

~ Kashi May-Bennett, Sydney, Australia

“THANK YOU for giving me and so many others access to such wonderful talks and teachers. I am Argentinian so many things I am really interested in happen very far away from home. Having this opportunity to listen to great teachers is something I value A LOT. Again, thank you very much.”

~ Alina Sansevich, Balcarce, Buenos Aires, Argentina

“I feel very grateful to you and all the Yoginis on the telesummit. It was a week full of revelations to me. Something has shifted already in my practice. I am allowing myself to really listen to my body and follow its subtle voice instead of doing what I think I should do. It was such a relief to hear that we as women need time to unplug, to rest. I don’t need to feel guilty about it anymore.”

~ Evelyn Kaeser, Selat, Indonesia

“First, I would like to thank you sooooo much for providing this forum for me and all the other yoginis, and free of charge too. I so enjoyed the fact that I was able to participate from home. Thank you so much again, for everything.”

~ Lakshmi Annavajhala, Boxborough, MA
